I. Room Reports
[[Elph]]-dining room-brought catalog of chairs that meet criteria.
Will buy one type of chair (2) and bring the other from [[Elph]]'s office to try out at a community meeting.
[[Elph]]-Exercise Room-can look at Sw's new elliptical trainer for sizing ideas
[[Rod]]-Mailboxes-JD thinks Katie solved the mailbox problem; can't find new CH plans; wanted to make sure their are enough mailboxes and cubbies--needed to eliminate large mailboxes (need 42 US mailboxes and 42 cubbies--maybe 50-60).
II. Place Settings
Mel-continuing to look for place settings that are stackable, durable, good-looking; brought clear glass example from Meijer--Libbey Duratuff; dresses up and dresses down depending on the occasion. there is some support for Correllware; clear glass will not stay clear after running through the dishwasher a few time; may be better to use a solid color; bring sample of Correllware next week.
III. Generate donation list
Look at WIKI list; many items are listed; add items at will;
When you look at the list, you can figure out what you might want to donate vs. sell at your garage sale.
IV. Magazine Rack
Melisa found a free magazine rack near the K-mart; 4 1/2 feet tall, 4 foot long, double sided white melamine. [[Elph]] and others will look at and decide if we want it. It would go in the sitting room where folks can bring their used magazine for others to use.
V. Policies questions
Offices, guest room, use of CH by groups, (inter, intra, outside-use)
Brainstorm issues then someone take ideas to write a draft policy
Guest room-first come, first serve; no more than 7 days at a time; lots of rules discourages use; night charge of $5 - money goes to CH fund; host is responsible for clean-up--washing sheets, etc...host is the one who signs out the room
Intercommunity Use (policy for GO members' use): Smoking policy, alcohol policy, quiet hours, clean up after self; food is allowed outside of the dining room if everyone agrees not to leave food/drinks in other rooms to avoid critter problems; encourage use policies; you must use the CH; holiday-specific decorations (all holidays get decorated or no holidays get decorated); large community calendar; leading toward being all-inclusive; do we need a decorating committee to make sure all perspectives are considered; must be someone who actually celebrates the holiday in order to decorate for it; decorators must be sensitive and aware to multiple cultures represented; security of the CH.
Intracommunity (someone in the community wants to sponsor an outside group i.e. book clubs may not include co-housing members): other co-housing community members are in this category; security; hours available; clean-up; cost (whether to charge or not); scheduling conflicts--what are priorities, or first-come, first-served; are there rooms that can't be scheduled; open to any group that is legal; whether the event is open to other GO members; how much notice to GO members about your non-open event.
Outside use: if money making activity, donation requested; catered events-can they use kitchen equipment; clean up and replace broken items; review from time to time to see if there are issues that need to be solved; other co-housers (TS, SW), group with no co-housing connection, is it related to our vision of wanting to reach out to the outside community and other co-housing related activities, non-profit social category, profit category, no external use??, a GO member can sponsor a group without being a member of the group or participate in the sponsored use; we want to support the formation of other community groups (i.e. co-ops,new co-housing, etc.); all external groups must have a Go sponsor in order to use our facilities.
Next meeting: facilitator-[[Rod]]; minutes-Melisa
check-in on meeting time; look at furniture, place settings, other room ideas, operating budget (look at Sw's CH budget).
