Laundry rack proposal
At the South-East corner of the building - have to make sure it doesn't conflict with the play structure. About $110 for the big one (90" W x 90" D). Since it was in the original plan, nothing surprising. Jillian has proposed two of a specific one -- it collapses into a pole http://www.stacksandstacks.com/html/5473.html - how much use would it get? Would we need a trellis around it to hide it from plain view? To have two of them and be able to walk around, we'd need a space of around 20' by 10'. Amy N. proposes we try one for a year to see how much use it would get. Rod advises to wait till spring since we won't be able to get it into the ground and when we know where the play structure ends up.
MONKEY: Rod to bring a landscape plan to locate the laundry rack around the CH MONKEY: Heather, to figure out exact placement
Aquarium proposal
Elph notes that underneath the bank of light switches as you enter the CH looks like an ideal place unlike the highly programmed sitting room. Rod draws attention to the posts along the entrance corridor as a possible problem. What happens if the aquarium honcho is no longer able to maintain it? We'll "jump" off the bridge when we have to cross it.
Ping pong table proposal
Was there a survey determining whether the pool table or the ping pong table was to go in the game room? The original program says "room for one big thing (pool or ping pong) and one small thing (foosball)". Even if the ping pong table folds we can't move the pool table and we are sure both cannot be used simultaneously. Sounds like we need another survey which includes kids and adults.
MONKEY: Jenny with measuring the room
added from Adi Jenny and I just measured it to be 15' x 26'.
Based on my brief research, Sam and I placed duct-tape "cutouts" of table sizes in the game room (you may want to view them before they get cleaned out on Monday).
The largest one is a ping-pong table but with exaggerated width to account for the net (9' long x 5' wide x 30" high -- 66" wide at the net).
The second largest is the 7ft pool table (88" long x 50" wide x 32" high) -- according to:
http://www.pooltableplans.com/Room%20Size.htm
http://www.123discountsports.com/admin_pages/faq_billiards_roomsize.htm
it looks like only the 7ft table will fit in the game room unless it is the only table in the room.
The smallest cutout is a hypothetical foosball/air-hockey table based on Sam's reckoning of what it might be - 5' x 4' -- an actual table is smaller 54"x29" but doesn't include the handles in the width:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2371940&sourceid=0100000030660805102498
based on the cutouts and knowing that one-half of the ping-pong table can be easily folded and the entire table moved to the corner quickly, I suspect we can make all three tables work in the room.
MONKEY: Elph volunteers to make the survey and Melisa will help with the kids and Rod will help with the West pod. There will be an email version, a Business meeting hardcopy and a door-to-door survey.
Construction: closet door frames, glass side of sitting room door, priming dining room ceiling, finish trimming on tektum ceiling, tile backer board (durarock) installed, paints done
Meeting this past Friday was cancelled but a call from JD happened. Closet door frames will be exterior mounted due to space constraints inside the closets. Glass side of sitting room door - Kirk says to forget the sidelight but JD has insisted that the glass be retained. Priming Dining room ceiling - Kirk didn't want to prime the ceiling, but then contradicted himself -- it is going to be primed and will add $300 to our painting bill. Finish trimming on tektum ceiling - tektum is edge to edge unlike Sunward but there are trim pieces to hold it in place and the finishing is being done. Tile backer board (durarock) installed - tiles are happening right now! Thanks to Dale and Keith for the backer board. Paints done - we need the kids room colors.
Melisa asks if the office and guest room doors will have locks installed? Yes, they should. Bathrooms should have bathroom locks. Elph says JD says door hardware is spec'd.
MONKEY: Elph will check the situation with door hardware
Media room report
Within the current budget, tech hardware has been spec'd out at Big George's but not seating, shelving nor additional lighting. Used couches might be the same as donated couches plus bought covers.
Amy N. urges that the TV stand have locked wheels and be picked for utility so it can even be wheeled outoors for Summer movie night - the units that fit this need tend to be black tubular metal, utilitarian but not particularly aesthentically pleasing. She prefers the two speakers that are easier to move around versus the fixed five speakers.
Blinds report
Melisa - good news is that there are 69 windows that needs blinds. At Meijer the vinyl standard white blinds are $4.99 a piece, but they don't fit many of our non-standard windows. Blinds to Go has more expensive blinds but are willing to give us a 15% discount and an additional 10% if we go over $1000. Aluminium blinds (24x24) are $21 but Judith knows some tricks to make such work. Target, Home Depot etc. need to be explored too. We might also not need to put blinds on all the windows right away. Melissa suggests shades on the exercise room.
Elph suggests a priority list per room. The interior kids room windows will NOT get shades/blinds. Ted suggests uniformity in color from outside. Rod suggests white or alabaster.
Post Tour
Nix the middle post in the entryway. Complain about quality of 'finish' coat. Ask about CH punch list routine in next construction meeting Fireplace tiles look great! Where are the arched doors and brushed nickel accent grille we specified???
