Common House Committee Meeting Minutes, Oct 10, 2017

Present: Thomas, Elph, Ted, Bob, Nancy

Monkey: Katie to confirm that Jamal’s quote for the dining room stripping
and waxing is still $400.

Monkey: Bob to come back with a suggestion for how to reorganize the
laundry room to be discussed by CH cmtee. He will enlist others. Elph sent
Kelly’s suggestions to Bob.

Monkey: Elph add info about noise to info in guest room (details below.)


Day 1 of Work holiday was done this last weekend.

Work done in CH:

Kids Play room was cleaned

Change air filters

Cleaned guest room

Cleaned sitting room

Cleaned media room

Tested emergency lights - inconclusive - try building circuit breaker

Dining room chairs cleaned and marked for repair

Cleaned cobwebs off of lights outside

Sitting room chair cushions cleaned - hard to get back on - use plastic
sheet to help slide them in

To be done Day 2

Hand wash costumes, donate guff pile

Clean air intake grills

Clean cobwebs off lights inside

Amongst the other jobs on the spreadsheet

Discussion of how spending money on cleaning carpets is invisible to the
community.

Wonder if putting a special assessment on people’s bills would get folks
attention.

Perhaps telling the community directly that we have some frustration with
the cleanliness and the trash littered about?

Work Skills - nothing new to report. Winter is coming - sometimes the
workers are standing outside while waiting for the manager to arrive. How
can we help them to get in?

Put a physical key outside? Have someone unlock the door in the morning
before 8am on Mon thur Thurs? No clear action. More thought required.

Sometimes guests in guests room complain that the workers are noisy. Let’s
add that to the info in the guest room to make it clear that they should
expect some noise in the morning from the work skills cleaners starting at
8 am Mon thru Thurs.

Hallway floors got finished nicely. Should we do the dining room? Let’s get
a price and consider having him strip and seal the dining room. Katie said
in a previous email that the quote for doing the dining room floor was
$400. Is that still good?

There have been a couple of requests to build better shelves in the laundry
room (Kelly and Bob.) We discussed the pros and cons as we understood them
from previous feedback. Con that providing convenient spaces to store
laundry will increase the amount of laundry piling up. Pro that having a
nice space will encourage people to take care of it. As a next step we
asked Bob to come back with a plan that we could review.
